Marie-Christine von Hahn appointed Principal Managing Director of German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI)
The German Aerospace Industries Association appoints Marie-Christine von Hahn as principal managing director. The 45-year-old will lead the association from 15 November 2024. She currently serves as Vice President Corporate Sustainability & External Affairs at Aurubis AG, where she represents the group's interests vis-à-vis governments, members of parliament, political decision-makers and associations at the national and international level. Von Hahn succeeds Dr Gerardo Walle, who passed away unexpectedly in February this year.
„Marie-Christine von Hahn is an experienced representative of industrial interests in politics, associations and society. Her determination and passion for industrial transformation will help us to realise our goals in key areas such as the promotion of sustainability, innovation and competitiveness," says Dr Michael Schoellhorn, President of BDLI.
Looking forward to her new responsibilities, Marie-Christine von Hahn says: "I would like to thank BDLI for the confidence they have placed in me. As a driver of jobs, business and technology, the German aerospace industry is deeply rooted in the country's economy and society. I am firmly convinced that this industry will make a decisive contribution to overcoming today's major societal challenges - be it climate protection, the introduction of novel technologies or securing our democratic freedom."
Von Hahn began her career working for an MP at the German Bundestag, then moving on to Wintershall before joining Aurubis, a global supplier of non-ferrous metals in 2015. From 2011 to 2018 she headed the Berlin-based „Women's Energy Network“. Since 2019, she has been deputy chair of the Federation of German Industries‘ (BDI) Committee for Raw Materials Policy.
